I purchased this case based on the reviews and I have been supremely disappointed with this “case”. It is a thin, cheap piece of plastic that snaps on to the device. Every time you put the case on or remove it, it puts tension on the plastic and it can very easily break. So I was extra careful when applying the case, but it scratched the side silver bezel of my iPod Touch right down to the bottom. Now I had to remove it, and the same thing happened again. This time, I almost felt as if the case itself would snap in two pieces.

The new iPod Touch is so slim, I don’t think this type of plastic case is the best idea because it is difficult for the plastic cases to securely hold the phone. I had ruberrized case for my previous iPod Touch, I think that material will probably work better on this much thinner Touch. It doesn’t feel nice ruining my $300 Touch on the first day because of a cheap plastic case that feels like it shouldn’t even cost a dollar. I guess the joke’s on me. Just my 2 cents, but I hope you can save the aggravation that I went through.

The product itself is good. As others have written, it might not protect your iPod Touch 4G from a fall on a hard surface, but it will keep it nice and safe in a purse/backpack/pocket. It’s sleek and does not add much weight or bulk to a product whose appeal is its small size and weight. The reason I rated it so low is that I am very disappointed that it lacked instructions, and I had to throw away 1/2 of my purchase because of it.

There are really two parts to this product:

    1) The semi-rigid hard plastic shell that wraps around the back and sides of the iPod. This part fits perfectly, and has holes in exactly the right spots – the bottom receptacle for the USB plug, the top on/off switch, the side volume, and the rear camera. This part is pretty easy to snap on (despite the lack of instructions), and once it is on, it’s not going anywhere, unless you purposely want to remove it.

    2) The clear plastic screen protector. This part seems like it probably works great if you know how to apply it correctly (which I didn’t). It seems to be the right size and has two holes in the right places – one for the bottom button and one for the front facing camera. The camera hole is of particular importance because the previous iPod Touches and iPhones did not have this camera, so the screen protectors meant for the earlier devices will not have the second hole.

So why does it get only three stars? I basically ruined the clear plastic screen protector while trying to apply it because I didn’t know what I was doing, and the product lacks instructions. The protector itself comes ‘sandwiched’ between two other pieces of plastic, and it’s not immediately obvious which piece of plastic is the product and which is the packaging (at least it wasn’t to me). I ended up putting the actual product down on my kitchen table, thinking it was trash, and it got a bunch of dust and debris on it. When I figured it out and tried putting it on my iPod, all of the dirt caused a bunch of bubbling.

You might say this is my ignorance, which is true… but a product should have instructions, and this one did not. In the meantime, I have seen lots of other reviews of people getting confused with these plastic covers (offered directly by other sellers) even with good instructions, so I don’t think I’m the only one.

So now I have to shell out another $10.00 for a three-pack of the clear covers. It would cost them barely anything to put some instructions. Pretty disappointing.

I bought this case for two reasons: (1) it is the only one I could find, and (2) it came with a screen protector. This is my first iPod Touch (previous iPod is a generation 3). I’m not familiar with these types of cases, therefore this review may be weak.

First impressions…the case is pretty thin. Slim means slim. It is coated plastic, not rubbery…has a bit more grip than a plain plastic case, but not as much as I thought it would have. It feels like it could easily snap in half with a small amount of pressure. Attached to the iPod it is great, doesn’t feel like a case, yet it feels like it could wear out within a few months. The screen protector is pretty decent, although mine didn’t fit seamlessly onto the iPod. I recommend attaching the case first and then the screen protector. You might have to shave off a piece of a corner or two to keep it from bubbling (I’m a bit of a perfectionist). I used a pocket knife scissor to cut a hair off two corners….fits nicely now and does a good job.

The case surely won’t protect the iPod from a shoulder-length drop onto a hard surface The impact could still crack the screen, but then again I’m not going to test it and doubt many cases would anyway. It will however keep it from scratches and protect it from everyday use. The “stilts” are barely noticeable but do lift the iPod a hair above a flat surface. Overall I’m pleased with it. It will definitely serve its purpose and last long enough until all the other case manufactures produce their versions. I will probably buy a thicker, more secure case within the next year (I use it for running and worry about dropping it) but this case has potential to last a long time.

This case is perfect. It feel like there no case at all when you are holding the ipod tocuh 4. It’s perfect for people like me who hate cases because it change your experience with the product. The screen protector is OK not the best but it’s a cool extra.

The case it self is great. It looks good and gives good protection. Slim and light. I like it!

However… it’s good that it comes with a screen film, but it’s funny that the screen film doesn’t fit well when you put the case on. The screen film is too big so when you put the case on, air comes in on the margin and creates lots of bubbles, which make it look really ugly. So I had to cut the screen film a little bit to make it fit.
