As the previous reviewer noted, there is no hole for the camera lens or microphone on a 5g iPod. However, it fits the 5g perfectly, and seems to be the best-designed of any HipCase so far (I've used them for two previous incarnations of the nano.) There's no longer any covering to hinder access to the wheel, and for the first time, the nano can be plugged in for recharging without removing it from the case.

Personally, I expect to use the camera and microphone functions rarely, and don't mind taking the nano out of the HipCase to use those functions. Rating: 4 / 5 DLO HipCase Leather Folio Case for iPod nano 5G

Great case for 5th Gen iPod. Very soft leather and liner. The iPod fits in it perfectly. Easy to operate wheel and see the screen. Fairly thin with sturdy clip for belt. The clip is not “upside down” like on some models. I use it regularly, walking and working in the yard and it works great in my pocket and clipped to a belt or waistband. There is no hole for the camera so you have to take it out of the case for take pictures or video, but that’s not what I bought it for. It’s also nice that you don’t have to take it out of the case to charge or sync. It has a magnet with the proper strength to keep the cover closed during activities. I recommend this case highly.

The sellers were quick to respond and sent the product as agreed. The hipcase is exactly what I wanted to use my iPOD as a pedometer, which was one of the main reasons I got it. Good seller with whom I would do business again.

I know quite a few people had issues with the previous version of this case. They complained it was difficult to remove your iPod, difficult to navigate through thick plastic, and that the iPod connector was blocked.

They have taken care of all these issues. This is a great product. The only qualm I have is that on the bottom there are only two thin pieces of leather holding your iPod in, but I foresee no difficult with this for at least a few months. Although I love DLO iPod cases, this is listed as a case for the 5G Nano – the newest version with the camera lens and microphone on the back. It DOES NOT have a cutout for the lens/mic, you will have to take the Nano out of the case to use either. It’s actually the case for the 4G Nano – as noted on the product box – so I returned the one I just got. Until DLO (and Amazon) come clean, stop selling this as a 5G case, and give us a true 5G case, I’ll have to go to the Belkin F8Z511tt (sold by J&R through Amazon), which not only has the lens/mic cutout [see review - may not align properly, but I'm willing to see if I can fix that], but a built-in screen protector as well AND sells for under half the price.
